And so, some time ago I found a pattern on Ravelry for a Jayne Cobb hat! Any rabid Firefly fan knows all about the hat Ma Cobb knit, and I wanted to knit one so bad! So I finally got around to it, and am knitting probably about 5 for a bunch of my nerdy Firefly friends, lol. Here's the first one!

I figured I should post some pics of what the hearts looked like AFTER felting. It was strange, they came out more hairy than fuzzy. It reminded me of the big red monster from Looney Tunes. Percy, I think his name was. *sigh* I miss Looney Tunes.

Anyway! Pictures, and Charlie with his hearts!

He absolutely loved them. I wasn't there when he got home, but he found the first one on his keyboard and texted me to say thank you. I asked how many he'd found and he immediately ran to try and find the rest. Hehe. I'm glad that he liked it, made me very happy.

Ahhhh yes. I haven't blogged in fucking forever. But then again, I haven't done a whole lot of knitting. Plus, I've got a shiney, not necessarily new because we've been dating for a few months, wonderful boyfriend who seems to occupy a lot of my time. But, as is knitting tradition, I've found a project to knit for him! Its these adorable felted hearts.

On principle, I hate felting. I think it looks stupid and ruins all the work you did to make your stitches look nice. But, this pattern is made so that you can still see the stitches, the felting just "fluffs" the stitches out. So far, mine look nothing like the pattern. The humps on them seem to be way taller. I found gauge-appropriate matching yarn, but using the suggested needles it was large, lumpy and ugly. So, I dropped down to a 6 instead of a 9 and they turned out MUCH better.

May I just say, I HATE SEWING SEAMS. I can't do it worth a shit.

That was the first one, and its yet to be felted. They knit up so freaking fast! 30 minutes or less. I've got 5 done so far, and I'm just going to make as many as I can with this skein. Then, off to his house to use his washer and dryer, and then to hide them! He comes back from out of town on Monday, and I won't see him until Monday night, so he might find a few before then. It'll be adorable.

OH, also, as soon as I find someone to take my apartment, his house will be OUR house. *squeeee*

My god, I actually finished something! Lol, well, I've finished two things. I made a beanie for a guy at work out of the UNC colors, just because he's got a crush on me and I was being nice, lol. But its not impressive, so no pics.

The second is a scarf I made for me. Its pure silk, with glass beads all throughout. I got two skeins of green and one of purple, just because they were beautiful colors, and later I realized they're the colors that comic book villains are usually drawn in, lol. So I named it the Silky Villian scarf, heh. But its FINALLY done, after like a month of only working on it every now and then. It turned out beautifully and I get to wear it this weekend! It has been fairly warm, but another cold spell is coming, and I'm heading up to West Virginia, where it'll be much colder. Anyway, pics!

So I've finally gotten the sweater almost done, and its down to the wire! Christmas is like two weeks away (give or take). I finished the second sleeve Monday and just now finished the edging on the right front. My pinky started twitching randomly after I was done, which I think means I need to take a break (its still doing it right now).

Here are the pics of the pieces. Going to start on the left edging with the button holes tomorrow and then its gotta get sewn together, then steam blocked and then make the neck edging, I believe.

Well, with my second job at the bookstore I've been super busy, so I haven't had much time to update. But here I am, having to be at work in 5 hours, but still online, I'm updating this.

I finished the right front and am almost done with the right sleeve. Like 10 more rows and I'm done with that and head straight on into the left sleeve. I was worried I wouldn't get this done before Christmas, but I really think I will. I'll even take a few extra days off from the bookstore just so I can finish it up if I have to.

Okay, I have to go to bed or I'll end up killing people on Black Friday, haha.

Haha, VERY long over due update. Finished the gorgeous silk and bamboo scarf. It looks exactly the same as the earlier posted picture, just much longer. Took two skeins, but its beautiful.

I decided to knit my mom a sweater for Christmas. The pattern was MUCH harder than I thought, because it has a chart, and I'd never done a chart before. But, I struggled through it, had to frog it and start over like three times, but eventually I got the hang of it and am now speeding along! I've got the back and left front finished and am almost done with the right front. From then I do the sleeves, and then some pick-up-and-knit edging and then that baby's done! It looks really nice, and seems to be turning out well. Here's a link to the pattern:
